In 2018, scientists \u201cdiscovered<\/a>\u201d a new organ in the body called the interstitium, which holds roughly 20% of the fluid in the human body. Unlike the 80% of water that\u2019s found in human cells, the 20% of the fluid in the interstitium describes the non-intracellular fluid and tissues that\u2019s found elsewhere in the body, below the skin and in the urinary, digestive and respiratory systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
