Give Your Body the Nutritional Support It Needs For Stroke Recovery†
When a debilitating stroke strikes a family member, there's no other way to describe it other than heart wrenching. Life as you—and the beloved stroke victim—know it has been completely flipped upside down. To see a loved one suffer from stroke is plain awful. The important thing to remember is, not all hope is lost. Normalcy can be regained.
And Strocontrol™ (Bu Yang Huan Wu Pian), an all-natural traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula with a long history of successful use in China, can help! In fact, the formula, Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang, for Strocontrol is the most prescribed Chinese herbal medicine for ischemic stroke recovery.
The goal of post-stroke recovery is to regain all function and emotional stability as quickly as possible. The best way to get back to normal after stroke is through a holistic health regimen. And one critical part of post-stroke recovery is nutritional support.
Strocontrol™, is a formula containing seven traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbs. These herbs contain compounds that have been clinically proven to be part of an overall strategy of stroke recovery (see research, below).
Proven, Ancient Formula Tonifies Qi, Invigorates Blood and Clears Meridians
From a Western medicine perspective, strokes are caused by a blocked artery or leaking/burst blood vessel. TCM theory examines the root cause of why the artery is blocked or why the blood vessel has burst. One reason is blood stasis. Think of blood stasis as a stagnant swamp. Oxygen-rich blood is unable to flow freely. Metabolic waste accumulates like algae in a pond.
Common problems for post-stroke patients, according to TCM theory, are Qi deficiency, blood stasis, and blockage of channels. Accordingly, Chinese medicines are developed with the focus on supplementing Qi, promoting Blood circulation and clearing the meridians.
Proper blood circulation throughout the body is a key element in stroke prevention. Strocontrol augments Qi, which benefits blood circulation. It's storied history - 400 years - as a blood tonic is now supported by clinical research.
How Does Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang Pian Work?
Huang Qi (Astragalus Root) is the chief herb used in a large amount in the formula. It jumpstarts Qi, which in turn promotes blood circulation. Huang Qi also promotes detoxification, as does Dang Gui (Chinese Angelica Root), which also nourishes and invigorates Blood.
Di Long (Earthworm), clears the collaterals/meridians.
Does Research Support Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang Pian for Stroke Recovery?
Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang, as the most used Chinese medicine for ischemic stroke recovery1, has been the subject of over 100 studies. In animal studies, Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang significantly enhanced the survival rates and life-spans of mice after acute ischemic stroke. It successfully restored brain function, ameliorated the cerebral infarction, and improved the neurological deficits of the affected mice. Such benefits are due to a significant down-regulation of genes involved in inflammation, apoptosis, angiogenesis and blood coagulation, as well as an up-regulation of genes mediating neurogenesis and nervous system development.2
Huang Qi, a main Chinese herb in the Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang, is found to contain many compounds of possessing clinically significant neuroprotective properties. They are also anti-inflammatory. One of the compounds in Huang Qi is astragalus polysaccharide. Astragalus has proven anti-oxidative properties. This particular polysaccharide was also proven to lessen swelling in incidences of ischemic strokes.
Evidence suggests that Chuang Xiong exerts neuroprotective effects, possibly through inhibiting calcium overload and inhibiting the anti-inflammatory response. Evidence also demonstrates this herb's ability to encourage apoptosis in ‘PC12' cells that have been damaged by oxidative stress.
Dang Gui, Hong Hua, Chi Shao, and Tao Ren each have compounds that have been shown to have beneficial effects on cerebral ischemic injury. (The compounds are ferulic acid, hydroxysafflor yellow A, benzoic acid, and amygdalin, respectively. )
These identified active components, and others in the formula, have been clinically proven to have therapeutic properties against cerebral ischemic injury.3
