Da Bu Gan Wan (Pian) Product Details
What does it do?
Liver is a vital digestion organ. It plays major roles in the metabolism and production of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates such as glucose. Liver has a central role in detoxification. Toxins from digestion such as ingested drugs and internal metabolism are broken down in the liver. When liver functions are lessoned from virus infection or other adverse causes, the toxins are not cleared and may be accumulated. For example, bilirubin, a breakdown molecule of hemoglobin from dead red blood cells, is excreted in the liver into the bile, an accumulation of bilirubin results in jaundice.

In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the liver stores the blood and regulates its supply. The liver also promotes the digestion and absorption of nutrients and controls the smooth movement of Qi energy and the blood.

A major health concern of the liver is hepatitis. Hepatitis is mostly caused by various types of hepatitis viruses and is common among Asian populations. One out of ten Chinese is HBsAG (hepatitis B surface antigen) positive. Not surprisingly, Chinese herbalists and doctors have studied extensively on how to treat hepatitis with traditional Chinese medicine. In the past decade a main treatment scheme has emerged to nourish the liver and kidney, strengthen the spleen, disperse and detoxify the liver, and promote blood circulation with satisfactory results. Da Bu Gan Pian is our signature formula that follows the scheme for care of the liver health.
