    What does it do?

Menopause is a natural midlife change experienced by every women around 50 when the menstruation stops and the ovaries no longer produce eggs as the result of a reduction in female hormonal production. The transition from regular menstrual cycles to menopause takes a couple of years and typically is not a smooth process due to hormonal imbalance. Over the course, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, sleeplessness, lower back soreness, and other discomforts, which is called menopausal syndrome, may occur. For years, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) had been a standard treatment to manage the menopausal syndrome before it was found that the therapy is associated with a significantly increased risk of breast cancer.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), menopause is the result of Kidney deficiency. The Kidneys are the primary source of Yin, Yang, and Jing (essence) of the body, whose function declines with the age. Hot flashes and the resulting restlessness are signs of Yin deficiency whereas soreness of the lower back is a sign of Kidney Jing deficiency. Although hot flashes are the most conspicuous sign of menopausal syndrome, it can also be accompanied by cold feet, and sensitivity to cold temperatures. The alternating hot flashes and cold feet indicate the Kidney deficiency of both Yin and Yang energies. Er Xian Tang is a famous Chinese medicine uniquely formulated to supplement both Yin and Yang and may help women undergoing menopause smoothly manage their midlife challenge, especially when such signs of both Yin and Yang deficiency are manifested.

Er Xian Tang was invented in late 1950s in Shanghai but was soon well adapted to deal with menopausal syndrome and got its fame. Er Xian Tang, literally "two immortals decoction", is named after its 2 major ingredients starting with Xian (immortal), Xian Mao and Xian Ling Pi, an alternative name for Yin Yang Huo or horny goat weed.

Er Xian Pian is a delicate combination of 6 Chinese herbs that warms Kidney Yang, tonifies Kidney Yin, nourishes Jing-essence, nourishes Liver Blood, drains Kidney Fire. In the formula, Xian Mao (Curculigo rhizome), Yin Yang Huo (Horny goat weed), and Ba Ji Tian (Morinda) as a group tonify the Kidney Yang, replenish the Kidney Jing, and strengthen the tendons and bones; Huang Bo (Phellodendron bark) and Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena) work as a pair to drain Kidney Fire, clear heat, and nourish Kidney Yin. Finally, Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis root) nourishes the blood and regulates menses.

    Does research support Menofine?

Er Xian Tang has been the subject of many clinical studies.1,2 In a randomized, double-blind, controlled trial conducted in Hong Kong and published in 2013, Er Xian Tang was administered to 108 perimenopausal women for 12 weeks. The frequency and severity of hot flushes are measured up to 3 months after the intervention. As the result, Er Xian Tang significantly reduced the mean frequency of hot flushes from 5.8 to 2.2, in comparison with a reduction from 5.0 to 2.4 in the placebo group (P = 0.04). The mean hot flush score was also reduced from 19.6 to 4.9, in comparison with a reduction from 16.6 to 7.0 in the placebo group (P = 0.02). The benefit of Er Xian Tang to placebo was also observed with greater improvement in the total scores for the MRS or Menopause Rating Scale (P = 0.03) and the Quality of Life questionnaire (P<0.01). No differences in serum hormone levels were observed between the two groups. Whole blood counts, renal function, and liver function were all within the normal range before and after treatment. Er Xian Tang is well tolerated with no serious adverse events noted.2

    How do I use it?

The standard dosage for Menofine™ is 5 tablets each time, taken 2 to 3 times daily with or before meals. One bottle lasts users 14 to 20 days. The dose may be doubled for a quicker and stronger response as needed (e. g., in an acute phase). Consult your practitioner for precise dosage recommendations based on body weight and other factors.

Menofine™ is a tonic and therefore it usually takes time before its effects become apparent. It may take one month or more before symptoms begin to improve. An initial course of treatment is suggested as 6 bottles taken at the full dose.

    1. Do not use it during the early stages of acute illness such as cold and flu, or during an acute infection.
    2. Use with caution in Spleen deficient patients with a tendency to loose stools, diarrhea, poor appetite or chronic digestive weakness.
    3. Keep out of reach of children.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Year Later - Great Results Don't know what I would do without this stuff! I was having hot flashes followed by chills, sometimes 2-3 times an hour. Miserable! Er Xian Pian was recommended by a TCM specialist and I am so glad it was. I started at 6 tablets, 4 times a day (my symptoms were severe). The hot flashes are gone. After 3 months, my dosage was reduced. I now take 5 tablets 2 times a day. Thank you for making such an effective product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need more time to be sure.... I have not had enough time to feel it's full effects, but have noticed less hot flashes in just one month. Since it usually takes 3 months to feel the full effects I take this as a good sign. I also really love the flavor of the pills, (which I also take as a good sign)...I suck mine throughout the day, and feel immediately more emotionally centered when I do so.
